2005

2005 was an eventful year for us all at Poplar Farm Kennels. We rehomed a total of 127 dogs during the year, including a couple of our long stay dogs. The most memorable one was Freddie who finally found a home after being with us for over a year. We also had some sad moments and lost 5 dogs last year due to old age or illness.

We are starting 2006 off with a number of long stay dogs still looking for homes and a larger number than ever on our sponsor list who will probably never be able to be rehomed. Hopefully as the year gets going we can find homes for many of the dogs here who have been waiting a while and no doubt many more over the course of the year. We could not do any of this without the help of our band of dedicated supporters and we would like to thank every one of them for their help in 2005 and hope they will continue to support us in 2006.

A few facts about 2005: -

  • We had several large donations of sacks of food but still spent over £5,000 on Dog food.

  • We spent almost £10,000 on vets bills, which was almost £1000 more than last year.

  • We raised nearly £200 from commission thanks to people using our online shop.

  • The total cost of our operation divided by 127 dogs gives an average cost of £175 per head to rehome
