Holly

Dear all at Poplar Farm Kennels

We want to thank you with all our hearts for bringing Holly into our lives.  She has totally changed us for the better and we love her to pieces.  It is hard to believe that one small furry friend can have such an impact on you, but she became part of the family immediately and everyone who meets Holly falls in love with her too.  I was surprised at how quickly she settled into our home.  She is very obedient and loves just being with us.  We had an accident on the carpet on the first night, but as soon as she knew her surroundings she was right at home.  We didn't hear a bark for the first week, but now she has a great 'big dog' bark which she does use if someone comes to the door.  However as soon as you open the door, the visitor is treated as a long lost friend and welcomed into the home!

We live in the countryside and every morning at 6am I wake up and take Holly for her early morning walk.  As soon as she hears the bedroom door open, she is waiting at the bottom of the stairs with one of her toys and the whole of her body is wagging along with her tail.  She has never tried to come upstairs and so we haven't encouraged her.   It is a pleasure to come downstairs and be licked and fussed over and made to feel the most important person in the world.   She loves the first walk of the day and spends her whole time rushing from one scent to another, sniffing out the wildlife, but never actually catching anything!!  When there is frost on the long grass, she bounds through the field with her head down so she can get covered in frost!  I love watching her enjoying the freedom of running around and I have become very fit in the process.

She has been quick to make friends with other dogs in our village and we have a super area to walk where lots of dogs come to play and socialise.  She is very popular, as she doesn't bark at other dogs and she is keen to chase and be chased.  At times there might be up to ten dogs all racing around and playing with sticks, running in and out of the river and generally having fun.  As a result, I have made some new friends in the village and we all chat whilst we are walking around the field or watching the dogs play like children.  Sometimes we can be out for a couple of hours as none of  them want to go home!  Holly has some special friends and is always disappointed if we go to riverside park and there are no other dogs to play with!

She is such a good girl that we can take her everywhere.  She goes to work with Steve and everyone loves her in the office.  If she is at home with me or has gone to walk with my mum, she is missed.  Even the children in my class ask about her everyday and some of them have her picture as a screen saver, as she has been into school to meet them all!  We took her to meet Steve's Nan who is in an old people's home and she had a lovely time being patted by all the people and hovering up the crumbs from their biscuits!!

I am pleased to say that she has lost weight and is looking very trim - I think it is due to all the exercise she is getting and we have certainly lost weight and trimmed up ourselves (which is no bad thing!)

We would now be lost without our little girl.  Having had lots of disappointments in not being able to have children, Holly has filled a void in our lives.  She found us at a time when we needed to love and be loved and we will always be grateful to you for bringing such joy into our home.

We hope you are managing to have the same success with the other dogs.
With very best wishes,

Steve and Julie Mesher
and Holly xxxx
