IMPORTANT INFORMATION
As with a lot of Rescued dogs, it is often the case that we have little or no information about the dogs we take in.  We do our best to assess but this is not a 'normal' home environment so it is not so easy to get a thorough
evaluation. Dog's can be very friendly with each other here yet not so good when they leave or vice versa. Any introduction to other dogs, pets and children must be approached with care

As far as judging whether a dog is suitable to be homed where there is a cat we have no means of cat testing here. It is the person who surrendered or fostered the dog who is passing this information to us But we caution all our prospective adopters that we can make no guarantees.  If in any doubt we will assume that the dog is NOT cat safe.

Jenny is a 4 year old Weimaraner. She is house trained, not destructive and is good in the car . She does pull a bit on lead as she was not walked regularly in her previous home. Jenny is good with other dogs but she does bark at them when on lead and she would benefit from some training to work on this.  She is great with people although she would be prefer a home without young children as she has not been used to them. Jenny is not used to being left so would be best in a home where she will not be left for long periods as she can bark if she gets distressed.

Jenny is a tad overweight as her elderly owner was not able to exercise her and she will need to continue with a diet and exercise plan in her new home until she reaches her ideal weight.

Jenny is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Jenny has been rehomed

Valentino (Val) is an 18 month old fawn smooth coated Lurcher male.  He appears to be house trained, not destructive and good in the car. Val is good with other dogs but would be best not homed with small dogs and is not good with cats and small furries.   He is OK on lead but has a pretty high prey drive so would not be trusted off lead other than in a secure area.

Valentino absolutely adores people. He will stand for ages having his chin tickled and just wants to be loved. He will be best in a home where he will not have to be left alone for long periods.

Valentino is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Max is a 4 year old black & tan male GSD x.  Max likes people and seems ok with other dogs He is a little short on lead training but is house trained and travels well.  Max is a bit insecure lad and needs an adult only home with someone around a fair of the time as he does not like being left alone for long periods.

Max is a real oddball in that he looks very much like a German Shepherd but he is only the size of a collie making him ideal for people with a smaller house or garden.

Max is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped

Cassie is a 6 year old Black & Tan short coated GSD female. She is house trained, not destructive, good in the car and is good on and off lead although she does pull a bit when excited. Cassie is good with other dogs but she is a little dominant and would be best not homed with small dogs. She loves to play with toys and is great with people although she would be prefer a home without young children as she finds them a bit worrying.

Cassie has very mild epilepsy. She had 3 seizures last year, all mild and she recovers from them quickly and does not lose control of her bodily functions. Cassie is not on any medication and has not had a seizure since she was spayed last year. A few simple precautions such as a diet free from additives and chemicals and not too much stress should continue to keep this under control. We are happy to discuss this further with any prospective new family. Cassie is such a wonderful dog that she deserves a chance of a new home.

Cassie is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Peppa is 15 month old black & tan GSD x Dobe female.  She is house and crate trained and is OK on lead with an experienced handler . Peppa has lived with another dog but is wary initially when meeting new dogs till she gets to know them, after that she is very playful. She is very affectionate with people and has been around children but because of her size and bouncy nature she would be best homed with older children. Peppa did not have much proper training in her early life and will need a home with people who are prepared to work with her but she is keen to learn, wants to please and has proved that she will learn new things easily. She has the potential to make a fantastic all round family pet but does get bored easily so needs an active home committed to her training and she could excel at agility. More details can be found on our forum by clicking here.

Peppa is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped

Name: Dfer

Type:
JRT x

Age: 9 years

Cat Friendly:

Dog Friendly:

Dfer is a 9 year old male JRT x. In the house he is an absolute sweetie. He loves the sofa and his own fluffy blanket. He is house-trained and has no problems when he is left but he does need to go out straight away when he first wakes up in the morning.

Dfer loves to be cuddled and have his tummy tickled. Because of his early medical difficulties, Dfer has lots of "tickle spots" as if he gets a nerve trapped when he lays in certain positions, this causes his back leg to twitch. This doesn't seem to bother Dfer and we just turn him over!!

Dfer loves his food and enjoys raw-hide chews (and any treats !!) and he gets excited when his lead comes out and loves a short, quiet walk. He also enjoys the garden but will chase birds and has attempted to hassle a hedgehog! He loves to rummage in the bushes.

The only area of work with Dfer is the fact that he loves to protect and when he is out on the lead he will bark/growl at other dogs if they come too close. A firm "NO" and "walk on" with a tug on the lead does work.

Dfer has lived in a foster home with 2 different dogs. He does growl when someone comes to the door but if they are confident with him he is soon asking for a cuddle. He would probably be easier as an only dog and probably would not want to live with cats. He has been left with free run of the house for several hours without any difficulties on return.

We feel that Dfer is a wonderful companion who prefers the quieter life. His tilted head and his tickle spots give him such character, and he just loves to be loved. He really deserves a wonderful for-ever home as soon as possible.

Dfer would be ideally suited to a home with an older person but as he can be a bit assertive he would be best homed with an experienced owner (probably a man). Lots more info can be found on his rehoming thread on our forum by clicking HERE

Dfer is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Betty is OK on the lead and she is never far away when off lead. She is great with other dogs and absolutely loves people. Betty is best homed with older children and she does need a little basic training but she is the most loving, loyal and affectionate dog and will make a fantastic companion for someone.

Roxy is a 2 year old female GSD. She came to us in a bit of a poor state having not had the best start in life. Roxy is now in fantastic condition and she is very friendly and lively. Roxy is good with other dogs but can be very boisterous so would need a tolerant companion. Because of her early life Roxy has not had a great deal of training. She pulls a little on a lead but is responding well to lessons and needs a home that will continue with this. She would benefit from attending training classes.

After a spell in a foster home, Roxy has proved to be a super house guest. She is excellent with children but we would prefer her to go to a home with children over 8 as she is still a bit bouncy.

Roxy is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered

Major is a stunningly handsome GSD of around 4 years old. He is friendly with people he knows, very lively and LOVES his toys. Major has been mixed with other dogs here and has been OK with supervision, however he is not tolerant of "in your face" attention from other dogs. He has been used as a stooge dog here for socialising other dogs.He is house trained and generally well behaved, in fact he shows a pretty high degree of training.

Major is a big dog and can be very intimidating towards strangers (particularly women) and we would like him to go to a confident owner with previous experience of GSDs.

Slave

Slave is a really handsome lad.  An ex racing greyhound Slave is typical of his breed.  Affectionate and gentle, walks very well on lead and would ideally like a home with someone home a lot of the time.

All he needs is love, cuddles and a home to call his own. Greyhounds are so rewarding to have around and give any love offered back ten fold.

Note: I know a lot of people think its an awful name but it grows on you. I really dont want to change it as he has had that name from birth and he knows it. Slave was with his breeder/owner/trainer for his whole life prior to coming here as a result of a minor injury that ended his racing career before it really got started. Because the dogs were all kept at home and were handled by all members of the family, including the children, they were used to their names. Slave doesn't care what his name means, he just knows it means him and usually a cuddle

Slave is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is clean in his kennel

Male crossbreed around 3 years old. Before coming here Spike was living with another male dog in a outdoor pen. He has never lived in a home. Spike is nervous of people that he does not know but is very affectionate once he gets to know you.  He loves fuss and company and just wants to please. He seems OK with other dogs off lead so far and is very clean in his indoor kennel. With a bit of time and patience Spike will make a wonderful, devoted companion for someone. Spike will need a home with experienced owners who can work on his socialization.

Spike is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped

Update 27/08/06 Yesterday we had Spike out on a training session where he was walked on lead in a group of strange people and other dogs on leads. He never batted an eyelid. He was also taken for a walk in the countryside and was extremely well behaved on a lead.

user posted imageAlfie is a 2 year old male GSD. He has a wonderful temperament and is extremely loving. We suspect that Alfie has had very little proper training in his past life but he is very quick to learn and extremely responsive. He is wary round children and especially teenagers so we are looking for an adult only home with people who understand the nature of a GSD and can give Alfie the training and confidence that he needs  He is house trained but is not happy to be left alone for too long and will be destructive when left or bored.

Eddie is a very lively 2 year old tri colour beagle. He was surrendered to us after nipping a child in his previous home. Eddie has had a very unsettled life so far with a lot of moving around. He has issues over food and is protective of his walk 025space. Eddie is otherwise pretty well trained and is a very friendly dog when out and about. Eddie needs an experienced home with no children, no other dogs and an owner who can give him the structure and discipline that he needs.
